Radical Self Care - A Different Perspective
I got this tattoo.
It came to me in my last RTT hypnotherapy session to release 20 years of migraines from my life.
This tattoo is a reminder.
a string tied around my finger,
to forever remind me to take care of myself.
to take care of me.
a reminder to ME to take care of me.
because I believe it is actually selfish, childish, and dangerous to carry the belief
that the responsibility of taking care of me, belongs to anyone else other than me.
yes, the goal is to be surrounded by people that are also committed to taking care of themselves and each other.
and MY primary care taker is me.
One of the purposes that the migraines played in my life was to remind me to take care of me.
In that RTT session, I released the migraine as that reminder and accepted the responsibility myself.

Take care of myself.
Self Care.
What does that even mean?
For me, it means.
- get enough sleep
- to rest when my body and or mind says to rest
- to eat, to fuel my body with the nutrients it needs to function
- to drink water, to hydrate, so that my body can function appropriately
- to use my voice as my super power. to speak truth, to ask for what I want and need
- to place boundaries, first with myself. all boundaries are really with yourself.
- to use my voice to enforce boundaries
- to physically remove myself from situations and environments that do not feel good.
- to feel my emotions, to examine them, question them, to uncover wisdom from my experience.
- to grow and evolve as a human.
- to clothe myself, to bathe myself, care for my body, love my body as if it were the ultimate vehicle that is with me everyday of this life. (as if...)
- to know when something heavy is in my body or mind, and pause to uncover what its pointing to.
- whenever I feel stress or anxiety, to pause and ask what its about, knowing that whatever it is, it is of my own creation and therefore it is I that can respond to change it, mold it, release it. let it go.
- to follow what my heart and soul is pulling me towards.
- to be open to those divine nudges, hear them, obey them.
- one foot in front of the other on MY path. not someone else's.
all of this, is taking care of me.
which does not require a "so i can.." or "because...."
This is taking care of me. which is a full sentence and does not require explanation, validation, or proof.
AND. and. when I am taking care of myself. I am present, patient, loving, guiding, understanding, full of energy for my daughter. for my family, for my friends, for my clients. solid in my power, in my love, in my peace, in my knowing.

This is Going to Get Uncomfortable
You're going to be uncomfortable.
.
The journey is uncomfortable.
Growth.
Healing.
.
It's uncomfortable.
Its NOT all rainbows and sunshine.
.
The hike to the top? Uncomfortable
The 5 weeks in a body cast? Uncomfortable
20 hours of labor? Uncomfortable
Moving to a new house? Uncomfortable
Any flight longer than 90 minutes? Uncomfortable.
Holding a mirror to your emotional triggers?
Yep. Uncomfortable.
.
There will be occasions when you've removed layers of scar tissue and its all raw and juicy and it hurts even MORE than the pain before
and you might think "WHY TF am I doing this? this hurts more!"
kinda like that guy in the matrix that went back in bc he'd rather be asleep than awake in reality.
.
And you can choose to love and accept yourself in those moments and always.
.
You can feel those feelings, that FEEL REALLY HEAVY AND INTENSE.
.
Because you've been stuffing them down, storing them away, saving them for a rainy day such as this.
You have a stockpile of unresolved emotions.
.
It makes sense.
It feels really heavy and intense
because it is.
.
and I'll be there for you.
You'll be there for you.
You will have tools to assist you through.
.
And through.
On the other side?
You're lighter.
You feel lighter.
Happier.
You may actually BE lighter.
You've actually felt the emotions now.
You've allowed yourself to feel it.
Feelings are meant to be felt.
And after they're felt,
They melt away.
.
There's nothing left to carry
but the wisdom, compassion, and empathy
that has taken the place of the hurt.
.
And each time,
each and every time.
It gets easier.
It gets faster.
It gets lighter.
because you're releasing more than you're building up.
And you've been practicing...
.
Practicing
Awareness
Discernment
Aligned action
and now you're maintaining.
.
Maintenance.
Sounds like bleh.
.
But its actually
peace.
maintenance.
sounds like work.
but its a lot less work than pulling around your trailer full of sh!t
Maintenance is clarity
It is calm. It is patience. It is a light breeze.
.
The journey is hard either way.

An Imperfect Start
An imperfect start
A test really
I did this a long time ago.
10 years ago in fact.
In prep and to share my experience in the United States Peace Corps.
To say that experience changed the trajectory of my life is an understatement.
Its been a wild 10 years.
2 divorces
1 marriage
4 grandparent deaths
1 death of my mother
4 people immigrated to the US
1 beautiful daughter born
3 jobs resigned
4 small businesses created
1 business sold
1 house bought
1 house sold
1 campervan home
20 years of migraines healed
Many pieces of 39 years of life healed
And now I'm here.
Happy. At peace. Present.
More often than not.
And I'm here to share
that maybe my words
will help someone heal
will inspire someone
to dig a little deeper
and find the light of truth
